# Spindly-Legged Seating The Le Meilleur Des Mondes Installation Distorts a Place of Gathering By Meghan Young | Published 2011-11-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/le-meilleur-des-mondes References: [inspire.2ia.pl](http://inspire.2ia.pl/post/12983193973/chairs-by-didier-faustino) & [didierfaustino](http://didierfaustino.com/) There is something slightly eerie about the Le Meilleur Des Mondes -- which means A Brave New World in French -- [art installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-world-sharp-edges). Without any perspective, the chairs in this exhibit simply look like a little off because of their teetering, thin legs. Yet, these [spindly seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pere-chair) are actually a lot larger than they look, soaring high above the heads of the gallery's visitors. Created by artist Didier Faustino specifically for the Cité, the Le Meilleur Des Mondes installation acts as a [distortion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/first-kiss-at-last-light) "of a meeting, a place of gathering, a space for exchange, dialogue and discussion in which power is exercised." The fragile look of these chairs represents the verge of collapse while their emptiness invites visitors to imagine themselves seated on them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Distorted Seating:** Art installations that use distorted seating to challenge traditional perspectives and create an eerie atmosphere. - **Spindly-legged Chairs:** Designs that feature thin, teetering legs on chairs, creating a sense of fragility and instability. - **Imaginative Empty Spaces:** Installations that incorporate empty chairs to invite visitors to imagine themselves in the space. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Opportunities to create unique and thought-provoking installations that challenge conventions and create immersive experiences. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Innovations in chair design that experiment with unconventional shapes and materials to create visually striking and intriguing pieces. - **Event and Exhibition Management:** Utilizing innovative seating arrangements and installations to create memorable and immersive event experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unconventional Awkwardly Seated Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uncomfortable-table.md) - [Suspenseful Statement Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edgeofyr.md) - [Modern Design-Exploring Art Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pratone-chair.md) - [Dynamic Joint Furniture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/please-sit-for-the-alternate-ending.md) - [Warped Georgian Townhouse Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-week-at-the-knees.md) - [Experimental Furniture Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mise-en-abymes.md) - [Dual Sculpture Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001.md) - [Futuristic Rooftop Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ls24-lounge-system.md) - [Industrial Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sized.md)
