# Playful Netball Perches The Lazy Basketball Chair Offers Rest and Recreation Simultaneously By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-04-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lazy-basketball-chair References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/Lazy_basketball_chair--Sport--Gear.html) & [emanuelemagini.it](http://www.emanuelemagini.it/lazy-basketball-campeggi/) The Lazy Basketball Chair would be perfect for those people who can never really seem to sit still. Those who feel the constant urge to keep active might actually find comfort in this [unconventional sporty seat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edgeofyr). Designer Emanuele Magini enhanced the form of a [basic metal chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair) by greatly elongating the backrest. This dorsal support was extruded, given an elegant curve and terminated perhaps 6 feet or further above the floor. A broad ring was connected to the ends of the two [sinuous rods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loopy-chair), serving effectively as a basketball hoop that's positioned directly above the sitter. The same red or yellow netting that clings to a sunken ball has been used to fill in the backrest. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Active Furniture:** The Lazy Basketball Chair exemplifies the trend of merging furniture with physical activity, providing a disruptive innovation opportunity for the furniture industry. - **Sport-inspired Design:** The use of a basketball hoop and netting in the Lazy Basketball Chair showcases the trend of incorporating sport-inspired elements into product design, offering a disruptive innovation opportunity for the design industry. - **Multifunctional Seating:** The Lazy Basketball Chair combines the functionality of a chair with the recreational aspect of a basketball hoop, reflecting the trend of creating multifunctional seating options and presenting a disruptive innovation opportunity for the seating industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The Lazy Basketball Chair introduces a unique concept that integrates physical activity into furniture, suggesting potential disruptive innovation opportunities for the furniture industry. - **Product Design:** The sport-inspired design elements of the Lazy Basketball Chair indicate a disruptive innovation opportunity within the product design industry, where incorporating unconventional and playful elements can lead to unique and engaging products. - **Recreation:** The multifunctional nature of the Lazy Basketball Chair presents disruptive innovation opportunities within the recreation industry by combining elements of seating and physical activity, offering a distinctive and interactive experience for users. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rest-Supportive Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lazy-concept.md) - [Upright-Posture Gaming Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/active-gaming-seat.md) - [Sneaker-Inspired Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/markvonrama.md) - [Hybrid Sit-Stand Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lean-on-chair-concept.md) - [Collaborative Cottage Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/finer-recliner.md) - [Traditional Vibrant Outdoor Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/net-lounge.md) - [Structural Beanbag Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brace-lounge.md) - [Supplemental Posture Chair Supports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curble-chair.md) - [Fishing-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akos-huber.md)
