The talented Lazerian duo of Liam Hopkins and Richard Sweeney continue to amaze with their exquisite 'Light Modulator.' Certainly not content with being called a mere lampshade, this computer-generated form is carved from [birch plywood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp) using a [CNC](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundlink-plus) router. The construction is composed of 26 individual units to create its [lace-like symmetry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lapso).

Lazerian works out of their studio in Manchester, UK, which used to be a hat factory.

**Implications** - With the advent sharing many elements of one's personal life on social media, there has been an increase in the importance of individuality. One of the best ways a company can attract the interest of consumers is by creating a product that combines tradition with a radical design. By slightly altering a time-tested product, the company stands a good chance of drawing interest from consumers in search of an original and uncommon look.
