# Seasonal-Costumed Lawn Dinosaurs Dino Dug Has an Outfit for All Seasons to Scare Away Gnomes By Andrew Sztein | Published 2013-02-05 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lawn-dinosaur References: [incrediblethings](http://www.incrediblethings.com/home/this-lawn-dinosaur-knows-how-to-dress-for-every-occassion) & [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2013/02/03/lawn-dinosaur/) 'Dug' is a lawn dinosaur who wants nothing more than to celebrate the holidays. Shared over the Internet by [Reddit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-daily-snoo) user Sarcasticonomist, the dino dubbed 'Dug' is the idea of a lawn gnome taken to an awesome extreme. Sarcasticonomist and his wife salvaged Dug from a landscaping company. The costumes are all home made, and his costume is regularly updated for a plethora of events such as the Superbowl, Valentines Day, Easter, Christmas or even just celebrating the life of Elvis. The lawn dinosaur lives in Redwood City, California. After seeing a T-rex in San Francisco 49's garb or in a hilarious cupid outfit, I have to ask, who would want a boring old lawn gnome when you can have a lawn dinosaur instead? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Customizable Lawn Decor:** Opportunity to create customizable lawn decorations for different holidays and events using different costumes. - **Novelty Yard Art:** Opportunity to innovate in the realm of unique and eye-catching yard art by incorporating unexpected elements like dinosaurs. - **Seasonal Home Decor:** Opportunity to cater to the seasonal and holiday decorating market with innovative and versatile home decor items like the seasonal-costumed lawn dinosaurs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can tap into the trend of seasonal-costumed lawn dinosaurs by offering a range of customizable and novelty lawn decorations. - **Landscaping:** The landscaping industry can incorporate the trend of seasonal-costumed lawn dinosaurs by offering unique and attention-grabbing options for outdoor spaces. - **Event Planning:** The event planning industry can utilize the trend of customizable and eye-catching yard art to offer unique and memorable experiences for their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Collectible Dinosaur Desk Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chrome-dino.md) - [Reversible Dinosaur Plushies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glow-in-the-dark-dinosaur-plushies.md) - [Dinosaur-Inspired Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chiasaurus-rex-planter.md) - [Whimsical Gnome Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/my-gnome-on-the-roam.md) - [Boxed Wine Lawn Ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lawn-inflatablecab.md) - [Dinosaur Fossil-Themed Bong Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinosaur-fossil.md) - [Rechargeable Multicolored Dinosaur Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/globe-electric.md) - [Spooky Life-Size Animatronics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beetlejuice-character.md) - [Holiday Dog Mascot Decorations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hamlet-on-the-hutch.md)
