# Dripping Lava Lighting The Lava Drops Lights Look Like Falling Hot Magma By M | Published 2014-05-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lava-drops References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/lava-drops-alvaro-uribe-design-tsunami/) & [tsunamiglassworks](http://tsunamiglassworks.com/) The Lava Drops lights by Alvaro Uribe Design and Tsunami Glassworks beautifully pair [glass blowing art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaris) with stylishly [reflective decor lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cairn-lamp). The dangling Lava Drops creatively look like a [chandelier made from slow dropping magma](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magma-lamp). Each of the technicolor glass globes in the Lava Drops ceiling light series are long, oblong and angular in shape to capture the liquid velocity of dripping lava. This imagery is wonderfully replicated in the glass blowing technique used to create the Lava Drops. Rather than using conventional colored glass, Alvaro Uribe Design and Tsunami Glassworks cleverly used mirrored glass as the main material. The reflective appearance of the Lava Drops mirrors exterior lighting, so whether or not you have the Lava Drops turned on, they'll always be shiny and glowing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Mirrored Glass Lighting:** Incorporating mirrored glass in lighting fixtures to create a reflective and visually stunning effect. - **Liquid-inspired Lighting:** Creating lighting fixtures that draw inspiration from the fluid movement and shapes of liquids like dripping lava. - **Blown Glass Art Lighting:** The merging of glass blowing art and lighting fixtures to create unique and visually appealing pieces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** An opportunity for interior designers to incorporate unique lighting fixtures that serve as conversation pieces and enhance the overall aesthetic of a space. - **Artisanal Lighting:** A new industry for artisanal lighting fixtures that utilize creative glass blowing techniques and materials to produce visually stunning products. - **Home Decor:** A trend in home decor that incorporates functional lighting fixtures as artistic elements in a room's decor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Volcanic Stone Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-lava-lamps.md) - [Mesmerizing Glass Pendants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-dew-pendant.md) - [Melt-Resembling Portable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/melt-light.md) - [Candy-Colored Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-ii.md) - [Fishnet-Made Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-mycreation-droplet-lamp.md) - [Volcanic-Themed Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stone-archive.md) - [Horizontal Glass Sphere Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comet-pendant.md) - [Volcanic Rock Light Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meta-parallel-black-collection.md) - [Blown Glass-Inspired Lighting Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luisa-collection.md)
