These ornate fireplaces are made with [Icelandic lava](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-lava-lamps) and are decorated with black fiber and wooden symbols. According to BornRich.org, the symbol itself "is a protective symbol... offering balance and natural energy to the surroundings." **Implications** - With the rise of electronic heaters, the functional purpose of fireplaces has taken a backseat to their aesthetic and decorative purpose. As a result, companies that create home furnishing accessories have invented endless and creative takes on this traditional home staple that possess the same comforting aesthetic quality as a real fireplace, but are easier to use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Innovative Fireplaces:** The Lava Cube of Fire from Secret North demonstrates the potential for creating innovative fireplaces that offer both aesthetic qualities and functionality. - **Natural Furnishing Accessories:** The use of Icelandic lava and wooden symbols in the Lava Cube of Fire highlights the potential for natural materials in creating unique and sustainable home furnishing accessories. - **Functional Home Decor:** As electronic heaters become more prevalent, there is an opportunity for companies to create functional home decor items that serve both aesthetic and practical purposes. ### Where This Applies - **Home Furnishing:** The Lava Cube of Fire from Secret North illustrates an opportunity for the home furnishing industry to create unique items that combine aesthetic qualities with functionality. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate innovative fireplaces, such as the Lava Cube of Fire, to create visually stunning and functional spaces. - **Sustainable Living:** The use of natural materials in products like the Lava Cube of Fire demonstrates the potential for sustainable living and natural home decor and furnishing items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Slick Modern Holographic Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holographic-fireplace.md) - [Communal Fireplace Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-coffee-table.md) - [Flatpack Virtual Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphene-radiator.md) - [Innovative Fireplace Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fireplace-designs.md) - [Mixed-Material Tabletop Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brasscene-harmony-flame-fireplace.md) - [Portable Cylindrical Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecosmart-fire-pillar-3t.md) - [Unusual Fireplace Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorchanging-fireplace-color-cones.md) - [Convenient Personal Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-fireplace1.md) - [Oxidized Outdoor Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eva-solo-firecube.md)
