# Divine-Inspired Book Houses The Laurentius Library Has the Shape and Hue of an Angel's Halo By Michael Hines | Published 2011-08-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laurentius-library References: [tuvie](http://www.tuvie.com/laurentius-library-by-anton-markus-pasing/) The Laurentius library is easily one of the most original [library designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellamundie) around. Created by Anton Markus Pasing, the Laurentius library is a [circular library](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mushroom-library) designed to sit atop the roof of your house and hold 10,000 books. The Laurentius library is designed to look like a giant halo sitting atop a house. This unique design comes from the back story Pasing created for his design. The condensed version of the story is that a lonely clergyman decided to build a library for his home, but didn't know how to go about it. One night, the clergyman was visited by an angel in a dream. This dream inspired the man to build his library in the form of a ring around his house! Despite what you may think about the story, you have to admit that the Laurentius library is pretty darn awesome. The halo-like structure has four walkways jutting out from the roof and a yellowish hue created by the library's protective sun glazing. Say what you will about [angels and religion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hjvangen-church), but the Laurentius Library looks like as good a place as any to keep 10,000 books. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Circular Design:** Opportunity for businesses to explore circular design in architecture and furniture industries. - **Inspired by Mythology:** Incorporate mythological and religious themes in design to create unique and captivating products in art and home decor industries. - **Innovative Libraries:** Opportunity for library and design industries to create unconventional and eye-catching library designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architects can experiment with unconventional and circular designs in their projects. - **Furniture:** Furniture manufacturers can create unique circular furniture pieces inspired by the design of the Laurentius library. - **Art and Home Decor:** Artists and home decor businesses can incorporate mythological and religious themes to create distinctive and visually stunning products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Revolving Bright Kinetic Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-of-light.md) - [Perforated Shadow-Casting Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mariams-library.md) - [Temporary Translucent Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-liberia.md) - [Arched Opening Village Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pkinception.md) - [Reading-Focused Compact Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-tiny-house.md) - [Wood-Wrapped Contemporary Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graded-school-library.md) - [Mobile Glass Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-libreria.md) - [Tree-Like Library Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-of-knowledge.md) - [Juxtaposing Angular Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brixen-public-library.md)
