Harris used to do art as a hobby, but after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she left her full time teaching job to focus on her craft. The amount of detail and precision used in each of her pieces is remarkable. She works with [ceramic, glass, porcelain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu), stone, and combines gear elements such as those found in clocks and bikes -- that's what makes her pieces so distinctive. Each mosaic is beautifully illustrated and tells a story. By combining elements of technology and fusing it with art and multiple different materials, it sets Harris' work apart from others, and gives her a distinguished edge. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Mixed Media Mosaics:** Artists and designers can explore mixed media mosaics to create one-of-a-kind pieces with intricate details. - **Combining Technology and Art:** Incorporating technology in art can create distinctive and standout pieces that can be a disruptive innovation opportunity. - **Personalization of Art Pieces:** Creating personalized artworks incorporating gears, technology and multiple materials can provide innovative business opportunities. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers working with mixed media mosaics can create unique art pieces using materials like gears and technology, setting them apart from traditional art. - **Home Decor and Furnishing:** Businesses in home decor can create one-of-a-kind pieces incorporating mixed media mosaics, blending technology and art to provide a distinguished edge to their products. - **Digital Art and NFT Marketplaces:** Digital art platforms and NFT marketplaces can leverage the trend of technology in art and offer personalized pieces as NFTs or digital collectibles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Abandoned Bikes-Turned Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-from-frames.md) - [Vintage Car-Inspired Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mosaic-gt2x-radavist.md) - [Intersecting Dimensional Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diorama.md) - [Innovative Ceramic Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-tableware1.md) - [Resin Hardware Revivals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meta-hardware.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Intricate Fiber Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threadwork-women-redefining-fiber-arts.md) - [Hand-Painted Ceramic Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handpainted-ceramic-collections.md)
