# Potato Chip-Inspired Seating The Lastu Stool by Juhani Horelli is a Twist on Scandinavian Design By Meghan Young | Published 2013-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lastu-stool References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/potato-chip-stool-lastu-by-juhani-horelli) & [byhorelli.fi](http://www.byhorelli.fi/) The Lastu Stool, which is named after the Finnish word for 'chip,' is a delicious-looking seat that will satisfy many design cravings, if not salty ones. Shaped like an oversized potato chip, the Lastu Stool curves invitingly to provide a comfy seat. Designed by Finnish furniture designer Juhani Horelli of newly established start-up company byHorelli, the Lastu Stool may be rooted in traditional scandinavian design, but also features a fun twist. Made out of mold pressed veneer and solid oak, the chip-like seat is complemented with a tripod-styled formation of legs that are secured with a metal pole driven horizontally across to maximize strength. Although perfect as is, what would take the Lastu Stool to the next level is if people ate chips while sitting on it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Potato Chip-inspired Seating:** The Lastu Stool is an innovative seating design inspired by the shape of potato chips. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture and Interior Design:** The Lastu Stool offers a unique and playful addition to the furniture and interior design industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fan-Shaped Stackable Stool Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stool-concept.md) - [Highly Functional Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loki-stool.md) - [Bubble-Inspired Bulbous Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool.md) - [Olive Pit-Constructed Kids Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nontalo.md) - [Visibly Undulating Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concave-stool.md) - [Pretzel-Like Comfortable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dohui.md) - [Multifaceted Geometric Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stackable-stools.md) - [Stool-Inspired Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hackability-of-the-stool.md) - [Wheeled Bright Stumpy Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stump-stool-1.md)
