# Fancy Laser Alarms The LaserScan Security System Scares Away Robbers By Trenton Millar | Published 2012-09-03 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laserscan-security-system References: [ohgizmo](http://www.ohgizmo.com/2012/08/28/heres-a-security-system-that-does-absolutely-no-securing) & [amazon](http://www.amazon.com/Globallink-Security-171-25-Laserscan-Deterrent/dp/B005K0DWTQ?tag=trenhunt0f-20) The LaserScan security system doesn't really do anything at all, but it does impersonate a heavy duty alarm, and that's the important thing. The only thing that this security system does is scan the room with fancy-looking laser beams. These laser beams look like they are protecting a expensive diamond ring in a museum, but in reality they do absolutely nothing. The idea behind the LaserScan security system is that robbers will get too scared to even attempt to steal from you if they see these [laser scanners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-sensors). Basically, this security system acts like a guard dog sign with a much higher price tag. It seems that the best option may be a security system that scans your home and also calls the police. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Laser Security Systems:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Develop laser security systems that not only have a deterrent effect but also offer advanced features like real-time surveillance and remote monitoring. - **Perception-based Security:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Explore the use of perception-based security systems that create an illusion of high-level protection, enhancing deterrence against potential threats. - **Integration of Technology and Security:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Combine cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning with traditional security measures to create highly effective and efficient security solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Security:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Develop advanced home security systems that integrate laser technology, real-time surveillance, and automated emergency response capabilities. - **Commercial Security:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Create perception-based security systems for commercial establishments that can create the perception of high-level security while offering comprehensive protection against threats. - **Smart City Infrastructure:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Implement integrated security solutions within smart city infrastructure projects, leveraging technology advancements to enhance security and safety for residents and businesses. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paintball-Shooting Security Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paintcam-home-security-system.md) - [Integrable Home Alarm Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ring-alarm.md) - [Smart Home Security Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-security-solution.md) - [AI-Powered Camera Alarm Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camera-alarm-systems.md) - [Parcel Delivery Alarm Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/package-protector.md) - [Construction Site Security Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ring-jobsite-security-system.md) - [Multifunctional Home Security Sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arlo-sensor.md) - [Mobile Security System Sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-security-device.md) - [Live-Enabled Security Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simplisafe-1.md)
