# Laser-Firing Drones Patrick Priebe's Laser Drone Can Shoot and Burn Things By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2015-03-29 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-drone References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/balloon-hunting-laser-drone/36745/) & [laser-gadgets](http://www.laser-gadgets.com/warning.php) German cyberpunk weapon inventor and laser enthusiast Patrick Priebe has adapted a [regular off-the-shelf drone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoverair-x1-pro) to be able to fire laser beams at stuff. While being able to view live video streams from a drone's camera is pretty cool, surely it can't be as cool as [firing laser beams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photon-matrix) and stuff. Priebe used a [camera-equipped Amewi AMX-51 quadcopter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dji-mini-5-pro) and fitted it with a 3-mW red laser for aiming and a 1.5-Watt laser for shooting and burning. Power to the lasers is provided by a 1,200 mAh battery. The aiming laser remains on at all times while the blue shooting laser is activated using a switch on the remote control unit. This laser drone was invented by Priebe with the intention of enjoying it in a closed indoor environment, and he primarily seems to be using it to shoot at helium balloons. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Laser-firing Drones:** Developing drones equipped with lasers for various applications like shooting and burning objects. - **Camera-equipped Drones:** Integrating live video streaming capabilities into drone technology for enhanced control and surveillance purposes. - **Indoor Laser-based Entertainment:** Creating closed indoor environments with laser-based activities for recreational purposes. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Drone Technology:** Capitalizing on the potential of drones equipped with lasers for various industries like security, defense, and entertainment. - **Consumer Electronics:** Exploring opportunities to develop and market camera-equipped drones for consumers interested in aerial photography and video streaming. - **Entertainment and Amusement:** Creating laser-based entertainment experiences in controlled indoor environments for recreational purposes like gaming and events. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Power-Beaming Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-recharging-system.md) - [Extreme-Heat Firefighting Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firedrone-by-empa.md) - [Flame-Resistant Firefighting Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefighting-drones.md) - [Tiny Animated Laser Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laserabc-laser-show-projector.md) - [Missile-Firing Unmanned Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/missilefiring-unmanned-drone.md) - [Drone-Intercepting Quadcopters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drone-interceptor.md) - [Powerfully Propelled VTOL Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vtol-drone.md) - [Long-Range Laser Flashlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumitwin-dl700.md) - [Heavy Payload-Accommodating Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-drone.md)
