Most [gingerbread kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-house-kit) come wrapped neatly with all the necessary pieces and instructions but the assembling of the actual structure can prove to be quite difficult. Family members of Madison, Wisconsin's Sector67 used a 150-watt [laser cutter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xlaserlab-e3) to fix this problem. By first creating a production file on Corel Draw, they sliced pieces out of large baked gingerbread so that all the pieces can fit together like a [jigsaw puzzle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intricate-jigsaw-puzzle). This eliminates the drying process when using traditional icing since the pieces provide support for each other. Though these laser cut gingerbread houses contain beautiful and intricate architecture and exterior designs, whether it is edible after the laser passed through is slightly questionable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Special](https://www.trendhunter.com/special) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Laser-cut Gingerbread Houses:** Utilizing laser cutting technology to create intricately designed gingerbread houses that can be easily assembled like jigsaw puzzles. - **Streamlined Gingerbread Assembly:** Improving the gingerbread house assembly process by eliminating the need for traditional icing and reducing drying time through the use of laser-cut pieces. - **High-tech Holiday Competitions:** Creating more competitive holiday experiences with the introduction of high-tech gingerbread house designs and construction techniques. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Baking and Confectionery:** Opportunities for innovative baking and confectionery companies to explore the use of laser cutting technology to enhance their product offerings. - **Manufacturing and Design:** Integration of laser cutting technology into the manufacturing and design processes of gingerbread houses, opening up new possibilities for creative and efficient construction. - **Event Planning and Hospitality:** Incorporating laser-cut gingerbread houses as attractions or activities during holiday events to enhance guest participation and engagement. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Haunted Gingerbread Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haunted-gingerbread.md) - [Gingerbread Architecture Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holiday-house-kits.md) - [Functional Gingerbread Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-camera.md) - [Edible Pastry Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poptarts-gingerbread-lodge.md) - [Unconventional Gingerbread Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unconventional-holiday-houses.md) - [Festive Meat-Made Holiday Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charcuterie-chalet-kit.md) - [Drone-Created Gingerbread Light Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-village-in-the-sky.md) - [Festive Cereal Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cingerbread-house-kit.md) - [DIY Pretzel Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snyders-pretzel-cabins.md)
