# Tree-Hugging Hubs The 'L'arbrisseau' Neighborhood Centre Brings Communities Together By Marriska Fernandes | Published 2011-11-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/larbrisseau-neighborhood-centre References: [archiscene.net](http://www.archiscene.net/cultural/l’arbrisseau-neighborhood-centre-colboc-franzen-associates/) & [cfa-arch](http://www.cfa-arch.com/) The 'L’arbrisseau' Neighborhood Centre is one-of-a-kind, as it brings together a close knit community in the French city of Lille. Designed by Colboc Franzen and Associates, the center takes into account several needs of the community. The center accommodates a library, an aquarium and most importantly, a tree. The reason a tree was accommodated into the design was because "arbre" is French word for tree. Hence, a 12-meter tree stands high as part of this community center and is the life of the area. The ground floor is used as a child’s care area, the first floor for kid’s recreation and the second floor incorporates adult areas. The L’arbrisseau Neighborhood Centre certainly binds the local people with amazing architecture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Community-centered Design:** Opportunity for businesses to create spaces that bring together communities and meet their specific needs through thoughtful design. - **Natural Integration:** Opportunity for businesses to incorporate elements of nature into their designs, creating a more harmonious and sustainable environment. - **Multifunctional Spaces:** Opportunity for businesses to create versatile spaces that can be used by people of different ages and serve various purposes within a community. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunity for architects and designers to innovate in creating community-centered spaces that enhance the well-being and connectivity of local communities. - **Education and Childcare:** Opportunity for educational institutions and childcare centers to adopt a community-centric approach in their designs, providing environments that stimulate learning and promote community engagement. - **Urban Development:** Opportunity for urban planners and developers to prioritize the integration of nature and multifunctionality in their projects, fostering more sustainable and inclusive communities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Community Wellness Centres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-house.md) - [Vibrantly Designed Nursery Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multichildcare-crche.md) - [Apple Tree-Surrounding Glass Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acdf.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Compact Civic Workspaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stroud-green-housing-centre.md) - [Contrast-Texture Community Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakehouse.md) - [Cultural Green Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taichung-green.md) - [Wood-Lined London Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lea-bridge-library.md) - [Arched Concrete Community Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/centro-de-colaboracin-arquitectnica.md)
