Taken as a group, they are called “The Trophy Wives.” Cole doesn't say much about his intent, so it's left to the observer to decide what he had in mind, or what they bring up. What does one make of [shiny, lifeless female forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neojomon-biomorphic-fantme) with horns? Do they really inspire desire? Is there hidden animal attraction? Are they useful? **Implications** - These are the questions that the artist would like you to ask yourself while looking at his works. Dave Cole has said that Cate McQuaid had accused him of "encouraging a [lusty gaze](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery)" with his 'Trophy Wives.' Cole doesn't mind that accusation by saying that the objects are full of darkness and are acceptable to desire. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Mixed-media Sculptures:** Exploring the use of mixed-media in sculptures, creating visually intriguing and thought-provoking art forms. - **Alternative Art Perspectives:** Challenging traditional notions of art by presenting unconventional and provocative perspectives through sculpture. - **Interactive Interpretation:** Encouraging viewers to actively engage with art by inviting them to interpret and question the meaning behind the sculptures. ### Where This Applies - **Art Education:** Offering art education programs that promote experimentation and encourage students to explore unconventional techniques in their creations. - **Art Galleries:** Curating exhibitions that showcase alternative art forms and challenge viewers' perceptions of traditional beauty and desire. - **Art Therapy:** Using unconventional and thought-provoking art pieces as a tool for self-expression and exploration in art therapy sessions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sea-Inspired Mini Sculpture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-sculptures.md) - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Fantasy Sculptural Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chris-wolston.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Primal-Themed Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-return.md) - [Playful Sculptural Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afterglow-1.md) - [Artful Bronze Horse Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deborah-butterfield-1.md) - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md) - [Otherworldly Wooden Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1.md)
