Each of these photographs focuses on [striking forest scenery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waterhouseoyama), but Plageman adds interest to these shots by digitally manipulating them. She makes these lovely landscape photos appear crinkled, as if they were blankets, or sheets of paper. Essentially she transforms these breathtaking photos into [surreal artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1), moving them around like everyday objects. Tree-covered mountain sides are already beautiful. Plageman really challenges herself in this series by taking something that's naturally stunning and making it even more eye-catching. These delightfully distorted photographs make viewers look at landscapes in a new way. This wonderfully wrinkled art series is called 'Response.' It presents viewers with crumpled skylines, rivers and forests that are hard to look away from. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Digital Manipulation in Photography:** The use of digital manipulation techniques in photography presents disruptive innovation opportunities for artists to create surreal and eye-catching artworks. - **Transformation of Landscapes Into Artworks:** The trend of transforming natural landscapes into surreal artworks provides disruptive innovation opportunities for artists to challenge the viewers' perception and create unique visual experiences. - **New Perspectives on Landscape Photography:** The trend of distorting and crumpling landscape photos offers disruptive innovation opportunities for photographers to evoke new emotions and engage viewers in a fresh way. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Photography:** The art and photography industry can embrace disruptive innovation by incorporating digital manipulation techniques and transforming landscapes into unique artworks. - **Travel and Tourism:** The travel and tourism industry can benefit from the trend of capturing and transforming landscapes into surreal artworks, attracting and engaging tourists through visually compelling experiences. - **Advertising and Marketing:** The advertising and marketing industry can leverage the trend of distorting landscape photos to create visually striking campaigns that capture people's attention and evoke strong emotions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Hand-Painted Watercolor Prints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emma-webster.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md)
