# Net-Bottomed Benches L'Amaca Desk Incorporates Stretchy Webbing for Miscellaneous Storage Beneath By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-05-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamaca-desk References: [filippoprotasoni.it](http://www.filippoprotasoni.it/?/furniture/hispaniola/) Most writing tables integrate drawers as a means to provide storage space, but not L'Amaca Desk. This charming piece of furniture has been designed intentionally simply, yet it delivers such delight through its structure and its functional embellishments. Filippo Protasoni was one of ten designers to dream up a minimalist escritoire for Haitian school children that could be produced cheaply and assembled easily on site. This lovely solution comprises pieces of beautiful pale wood that can be painlessly and intuitively joined, plus a unique feature that exceeds the rather basic expectations. L'Amaca Desk and its accompanying stool both have stretchy cord stitched through holes in the timber. A loop is formed beneath the chair and a full net spans the underside of the table. Within these, students can stash all sorts of irregular objects, from books and garments to snacks and toys. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: Europe, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Furniture:** Create functional furniture designs with a minimalist aesthetic, incorporating unique and practical features. - **Innovative Storage Solutions:** Develop creative ways to incorporate storage space within furniture, using stretchy cords and nets for versatile storage options. - **Affordable and Easy-to-assemble Furniture:** Design furniture that can be produced cheaply and assembled easily, suitable for various settings such as schools and offices. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Explore opportunities to produce and market minimalist furniture designs with innovative storage solutions. - **Interior Design:** Provide clients with unique and functional furniture options that maximize storage capabilities in a minimalist aesthetic. - **Education:** Integrate affordable and easy-to-assemble furniture solutions in school environments, enhancing functionality and storage options for students. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pocket Storage-Equipped Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Friendly Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-desk.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md) - [Rolling Leather Bookshelf Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stretch-desk.md) - [Minimally Refined Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-desk-1.md) - [Minimalist Demure Designer Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/backup-desk.md) - [Ultra-Chic Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-desks.md) - [Humorous Quick Cleanup Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk-concept.md) - [Storage-Packed Workstation Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-x-shelf-x-self-table.md)
