# Surreal Salt Lake Photos Dreamy Images of Australia's Lake Eyre are Captured in This Photo Series By Ell Smith | Published 2017-05-10 | World Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lake-eyre References: [wired](https://www.wired.com/2017/05/murray-fredericks-vanity-salt-lake-eyre/) & [australianphotography](http://www.australianphotography.com/news/photographer-heaves-large-mirror-into-lake-eyre-takes-stunning-images) Covering more than 3,500 square miles of Australian outback, Lake Eyre is a vast salt lake which shimmers as it stretches across the horizon. Situated in essentially the middle of nowhere, the lake appears to be untouched by mankind, creating a haven amidst an otherwise uncharacteristically dense and callous desert. Photographer Murray Fredericks sought to capture the beauty of Lake Eyre with his more recent photography submissions which contribute to his ongoing project 'Salt.' Fredericks and his team hauled 70 pound mirrors through the desert, propping them up with sandbags in the water and capturing the images using large and medium format cameras as the sky turned from harsh blues to soft pinks. These dreamy photos embody the wonder and enchantment that inspired Fredericks to explore the beauty that can be found in the middle of nowhere. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Travel](https://www.trendhunter.com/travel) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Salt Lake Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new techniques and equipment for capturing stunning images of salt lakes in remote locations. - **Creative Landscape Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative methods and tools for capturing the beauty of desolate landscapes in unique and mesmerizing ways. - **Environmental Art Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine art and nature by creating interactive art installations in untouched natural environments, showcasing the beauty and fragility of these locations. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new camera technologies and accessories to capture breathtaking images in challenging and remote locations. - **Tourism:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create unique travel experiences that allow people to explore and appreciate remote and untouched natural wonders. - **Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine traditional art forms with technology and nature to create immersive and thought-provoking experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reflective Water-Themed Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakes-collection.md) - [Desert Reflective Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shadow-travelling.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Summer-Inspired Photo Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/summer-dreaming-collection.md) - [Dramatic Doomsday Bunker Images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alastair-philip-wiper.md) - [Illuminated Curtained Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible.md) - [Surrealist Shopping Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreams-is.md) - [Artistic Lakeside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ely-retreat.md) - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md)
