The complex recently underwent an expansion that is meant to elevate the hotel to "an epicenter for health and wellbeing." The project is headed by Basalt Architects in collaboration with Design Group Italia. The new architectural and service additions to the lagoon retreat are meant to harness the healing powers of the surrounding pools of water, which contain "geothermal seawater [that is] rich in minerals like silica and sulfur." Basalt Architects carefully surveys the existing natural landscape and focuses on creating a layout for the lagoon retreat that will elevate the guest's experience without disrupting the organic formations of the beautiful site. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Luxury](https://www.trendhunter.com/luxury) > [Ultra Luxury](https://www.trendhunter.com/ultraluxury) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Health-focused Lagoon Retreats:** Wellness tourism industry can adopt lagoon retreats and incorporate natural resources in their experience design. - **Design-driven Hospitality:** Hospitality providers can collaborate with architects and designers to create unique and holistic experiences for their guests. - **Sustainable Tourism:** Lagoon retreats can incorporate sustainable practices to promote eco-tourism and minimize their environmental impact. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Wellness Tourism:** Wellness tourism industry can adopt lagoon retreats and incorporate natural resources in their experience design. - **Hospitality:** Hospitality providers can collaborate with architects and designers to create unique and holistic experiences for their guests. - **Sustainable Tourism:** Lagoon retreats can incorporate sustainable practices to promote eco-tourism and minimize their environmental impact. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tranquil Reimagined Wellness Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ziedlejas.md) - [Oversized Thatched-Roof Health Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lanserhof-sylt.md) - [Organic Cliffside Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intaaya-retreat.md) - [Tranquil Island Wellness Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sanya-wellness-retreat.md) - [Rejuvenating Ecological Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selenite.md) - [Healing Architecture Spa Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inns-of-aurora.md) - [Concrete Plinth Spa Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balnea-spa.md) - [Therapeutic Architecture Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heartland-whole-health-institute.md) - [Greek Island Tranquil Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gundari-resort.md)
