# Decorative Stepladder Illuminators Ladder Lights Climb Walls as Pretty and Practical Accessories By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-10-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ladder-light References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/ladder-light-by-msds-studio/) & [msds-studio](http://msds-studio.ca/project/ladder-light/) In the Ladder Light, there is proof that designers can ascend from the more conventional types of contemporary lighting fixtures. This creative product functions in the place of a floor lamp, a pendant lamp and a table lamp, and it doesn't even appear to be a typical [wall light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light). The MSDS Studio designers aimed to dream up a product that would be as [elegant as a piece of jewelry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-lighting-design), yet it would become an adornment to dress up a room. The resultant item seems to suspend from the wall like a beautiful necklace. Polished metal bars form the rungs of the Ladder Light, casing diffuse illumination through their upper- and undersides. The lit-up ledges are carefully spaced and fixed by soft straps on either side for aesthetic rhythm and repetition. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multi-functional Lighting Fixtures:** Designers and manufacturers have opportunities to develop and market creative lighting fixtures that can serve multiple functions. - **Decorative Wall Lights:** There is a growing trend towards wall lights that also function as decorative elements to dress up a room. - **Jewelry-inspired Lighting:** There is an opportunity for designers to create elegant lighting fixtures inspired by jewelry, for aesthetic appeal and as adornments for homes and buildings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can use ladder lights and other multi-functional lighting fixtures in their designs to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of a space. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** There is an opportunity for lighting manufacturers to create and market ladder lights and other multi-functional lighting fixtures that offer unique design and functionality. - **Home Decor Retail:** Retailers can tap into the demand for decorative wall lights and multi-functional lighting fixtures by offering ladder lights and other innovative products in their home decor collections. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Bookend Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stair-table.md) - [Contemporary Folding Ladders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scaleo.md) - [Nature-Inspired Living Space Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonlight-floor-lamp.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md) - [Wall-Mounted Ambient Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-varmblixt-collection.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Experimental Artforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ladder-series.md) - [Industrial Contemporary Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shop-light.md) - [Modern Affordable Wall Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poplight-wall-light.md)
