# Paradoxical Pixelated Lamps La Stanza dello Scirocco Light Throws Darkness About the Room By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-01-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-stanza-dello-scirocco-light References: [muuuz](http://www.muuuz.com/2012/01/24/mo-mario-trimarchi-la-stanza-dello-scirocco/) & [mariotrimarchi.eu](http://mariotrimarchi.eu/) One of the intriguing features of a room's interior is not the pieces within it exactly, but the shadows that the objects cast, bringing mystery and movement into a space. The Alessi la Stanza dello Scirocco light explores this concept of creating silhouettes, doing so straight from the source with a compelling pixelated facade made from a mosaic of steel shards. Each little rectangular plate is connected by its corners and edges to other lustrous "leaves," forming an [abstract lattice of chaotic geometries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light). The elaborate shell of the [table lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-table-light) bulges rigidly and narrows again towards the top. This shape encloses the lightbulb almost completely and covers all walls and the ceiling with a [fragmentary pattern of illumination](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection), contrasted with blocks of darkness. Mirroring the intricate lighting effects of the sun through trees canopies, Mario Trimarchi created his la Stanza dello Scirocco light to bring a dynamic quality to dull domestic spaces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Pixelated Lighting:** Opportunity for innovative lighting designs that use pixelated facades to create unique shadows and lighting effects. - **Geometric Lattices:** Potential for abstract lattice designs using connected rectangular plates for various applications, such as furniture and architecture. - **Dynamic Interiors:** Demand for lighting solutions that create movement and intrigue by casting shadows and patterns in indoor spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Innovative lighting concepts can revolutionize interior design by transforming the way light is utilized and the atmosphere it creates. - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to incorporate abstract lattice patterns into their creations, providing a visually striking and unique aesthetic. - **Architecture:** Architects can explore the use of pixelated facades and fragmented patterns to create captivating lighting effects in buildings, transforming the way spaces are experienced. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Artistic Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scacco-matto-lamp.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md) - [Illusory Mirror Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mirror-table-lamp.md) - [Maze-Inspired 3D-Printed Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maze-lamp.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Perforated LED Table Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lume.md) - [Sculptural Metal Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape.md) - [Sculptural Geometry Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape-lamp.md)
