Many retired Brits find the call of Spain too hard to resist, deciding to enjoy the rest of their waning years in a [perpetually hot climate](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-mila). Shot by photographer David Emery, the La Cala de Mijas photo series capture the juxtaposition of the people with their surroundings beautifully. As It's Nice That notes, "David’s images capture that ineffable spirit of Britishness; tanned to within an inch of orange and spruced up in their best white linen, his subjects look strangely familiar like a couple my nan would greet warmly at Bingo." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Travel](https://www.trendhunter.com/travel) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Retired Brits in Spain:** Opportunity for businesses to cater to the needs and preferences of retired British expats living in Spain. - **Adventure Retirement:** Market potential in providing adventurous retirement options for individuals looking to start a new life in a different country. - **Photography Series:** Growing demand for capturing the unique stories and experiences of expat communities in various locations. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Real Estate:** Disruption opportunities in catering housing options specifically designed for retired British expats in Spain. - **Hospitality and Tourism:** Innovative solutions for experiential travel and leisure offerings targeting adventurous retirees seeking new cultural experiences. - **Creative Services:** Growing demand for photographers and artists capable of telling compelling visual stories of expat communities in different countries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Documentary Photography Exhibition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-last-resort-exhibition.md) - [Color Photography Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/profiles-in-color.md) - [Coastal-Inspired Home Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-puerto.md) - [Summer-Inspired Photo Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/summer-dreaming-collection.md) - [Coastal Retreat Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eva-gonzlez-estudio.md) - [Personality-Reflecting Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-cantellano.md) - [Interactive Colorful Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-hockney-bigger-closer.md) - [Revitalized Retro Hotel Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kimpton-los-monteros-hotel.md) - [Rustic Coastal Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/finca-style-coastal.md)
