While some may find the sculpture titled L'ivrogne by Gilles Barbier playful and quirky, other's will find it eye-opening and sobering, which is appropriate. The title itself means 'The Drunk' in French. It depicts a drunkard down on his luck. Kneeling slouched on the floor, a spiraling whirlwind of thoughts explode upward from his head. A glimpse into his hectic inner rumination, it is almost like pieces to a puzzle that can be arranged and rearranged to figure out the meaning of his drunken depression.

From hats and stars to skulls and dynamite, L'ivrogne by Gilles Barbier is a mixed media sculpture made up of random objects. Created out of wax, the overall piece may be cartoonish, but it touches on a serious issue.
