Designed by Ortraum Architects, the cabin is characterized by its linear shape that is accented by a triangular roof that gives it a familiar form to admire from afar. The structure is constructed using [cross-laminated timber (CLT)](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clt-house) along with [larch board cladding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-cime) on the exterior, while the interior area boasts 15-square meters that is perfect for short stays or even long-term living, if desired. The 'Kynttilä' cabin is situated on Lake Saimaa and features an ethereal design that will glow in the darkness in the evening when the lights are turned on inside. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.9/10 - Popularity: 100% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Off-grid Living:** Designing cabins for off-grid living using cross-laminated timber presents an opportunity for manufacturers to create sustainable and eco-friendly living spaces. - **Prefab Structures:** Developing prefabricated structures made of cross-laminated timber can bring innovation to the construction industry by making it more efficient and cost-effective. - **Compact Living:** Designing compact living spaces like the 'Kynttilä' cabin using cross-laminated timber presents a disruptive opportunity for architects and designers to create sustainable and aesthetically pleasing housing solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Construction:** The construction industry can benefit from adopting the use of cross-laminated timber in building and prefab construction to meet energy efficiency targets and sustainable development goals. - **Architecture:** Incorporating cross-laminated timber as a material in architectural designs provides an eco-friendly and durable solution for creating unique and aesthetically pleasing structures. - **Real Estate:** The use of cross-laminated timber in construction can enable real estate developers to cater to the growing demand for sustainable and environmentally conscious living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Futuristic Modular Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebl-grand-cabin.md) - [Lake-Bordering Timber Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3ae.md) - [Affordable Timber Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-pod.md) - [Plant-Based Timber Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cross-cabin.md) - [Compact Modular Forest Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-house.md) - [Plant-Based Cabin Constructions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cross-cabin.md) - [Modern Timber Lake Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clt-house.md) - [Hilltop Valley-Overlooking Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hermitage.md) - [Transparent Birchwood Nature Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immerso-glamping-cabin.md)
