# Hyperrealistic Cacti Paintings Kwang Ho Lee's Exotic Plant Art Could be Mistaken for Photographs By Meghan Young | Published 2015-06-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kwang-ho-lee References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/kwang-ho-lee-touch-cacti) & [kukje.org](http://www.kukje.org/KJ_artists_view_1.php?a_no=186&v=1) The work of Kwang Ho Lee could easily be mistaken for photographs instead of the paintings they really are. Incredibly realistic, he manages to capture all the nuances of the different species of cacti he focuses on. Yet what makes Kwang Ho Lee's paintings even more impressive is the fact that they measure eight feet tall. Full of vibrant colors and bristling textures, Kwang Ho Lee manages to bring a bit of desert life to people's city homes in a very convincing way. My Modern Met writes, "As one of South Korea's most eminent realist artists, Lee has exhibited his work prominently over the last 15 years. Many of his paintings are displayed in the nation's most prestigious art institutions, including the [National Museum of Contemporary Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gat-umbrella), the [Seoul Museum of Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camping-house), and the [Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/winia-range-pop-microwave-oven)." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Hyperrealistic Cacti Paintings:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of hyperrealistic paintings for interior design and home decor, offering a lifelike representation of exotic plants. - **Realism in Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Apply the techniques of hyperrealistic art to other subjects, such as animals or everyday objects, creating visually stunning and attention-grabbing pieces. - **Large-scale Artworks:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Experiment with creating immense paintings that capture the viewer's attention and create a powerful visual impact in public spaces or galleries. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace hyperrealistic painting techniques to push the boundaries of traditional art forms and challenge the viewer's perception of reality. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate hyperrealistic cacti paintings as a unique and captivating element in interior design projects, adding a touch of natural beauty to urban spaces. - **Fine Art Galleries:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Curate exhibitions featuring large-scale hyperrealistic paintings to create immersive and awe-inspiring experiences for gallery visitors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Outdoor Floral Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptures-at-kew-gardens.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Television-Showcased Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-oled-lounge.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Interactive Colorful Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-hockney-bigger-closer.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Pixelated Photographed Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southern-trees.md) - [Plush Flower Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cj-hendrys-flower-market.md)
