The photographer documented the specific tree over the course of seven years, inviting viewers to take in its progression and growth during the extensive time period. Much as the pictures let on, this particular Japan-based tree is captivating for a number of reasons. In addition to Kenna's use of a somber, [black and white finish](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1), the arboreal structure is enthralling in its own right given its sideways tilt. While many artists focus on the near perfect beauty of [upright trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house), Kenna has proven that there is much charm within imperfect trunks and branches. It is the quirks of this Japanese Oak that provide it with a great deal of character. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Customization](https://www.trendhunter.com/customization) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Long-term Plant Tracking:** Innovative photographers can document the growth and development of plants over extended periods, providing unique insight into their life cycles. - **Quirky Tree Photography:** Photographers can create art that celebrates the unique and imperfect features of trees, rather than just their idealized form. - **Monochrome Nature Photography:** Using black and white photography to capture images of nature can create a somber and captivating aesthetic that highlights the details and textures of natural subjects. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** Professional photographers can experiment with innovative techniques to capture unique and captivating images of nature, such as documenting long-term plant growth. - **Art:** Artistic visionaries can use the natural world as inspiration to create works of art that celebrate the beauty of imperfection and non-traditional subjects. - **Home Decor:** Decor companies can utilize black and white nature photography to create captivating and unique pieces of art that enhance the beauty of interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Time-Layered Wood Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/age-of-wood.md) - [Pixelated Photographed Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southern-trees.md) - [Outdoor Floral Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptures-at-kew-gardens.md) - [Reflective Memorial Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sanctum-of-trees.md) - [Destructive Nature Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keita-miyazaki.md) - [Japanese Art-Inspired Oak Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/novus-collection.md) - [Kumiko Craft Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timevase.md) - [Woodland Arts Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waterhouseoyama.md) - [Tree-Integrated Mysterious Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-mural.md)
