The [Kurono](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kurono-grand-jubilee-calendar) Tokyo Vermilion Chronograph “SHU:朱” is a new limited-edition release by Hajime Asaoka’s brand, launching exclusively at Kurono salons starting August 22, 2025. The watch features a radiant orange-red dial named “shu,” a color steeped in cultural significance, long used in torii gates, [samurai armor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kabuto-legacy), and [lacquerware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gfj-calibre-135) to symbolize nobility, purification, and protection. The shade was selected after rigorous UV exposure testing to ensure fade resistance, guaranteeing long-term vibrancy and enduring presence.

The 38 mm timepiece uses Kurono’s classic Mk.2 chronograph case, crafted in polished stainless steel with a double-domed sapphire crystal and 3 ATM water resistance. Inside, the automatic chronograph movement provides 45 hours of power reserve. Produced in highly limited numbers and available only in person, the “SHU:朱” chronograph unites traditional watchmaking with cultural storytelling, resulting in a piece that balances performance, symbolism, and collectible appeal.
