# Hollow Cork Side Tables The Kork Boxes by Twodesigners is Chic and Functional By Meghan Young | Published 2014-03-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kork-boxes References: [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/Kork-Boxes/13483599) & [twodesigners.be](http://twodesigners.be/) Furniture by design are meant to be functional, but some are more so than others; take the Kork Boxes as a perfect example. While they are clearly stylish and contemporary, they boast details that allow people to see past their good looks and concentrate solely on how they perform. The more prominent of these details is the Kork Boxes' hollow bodies, which acts as a convenient container for various objects on hand. Designed by Twodesigners, a creative agency founded by Jonathan Honvoh and Rodrigue Strouwen and based in Liege, Belgium, the Kork Boxes are each made out of metal hooping in which two elements enter and combine as well as cork surfaces for added texture. They are available in different sizes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Functional Furniture Design:** Creative use of materials in furniture design emphasizes functionality over aesthetics. - **Sustainable Manufacturing:** Cork-based products showcase an innovation in sustainable manufacturing methods. - **Multi-functional Home Goods:** Home goods with hollow storage capabilities are an emerging trend for decluttering spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** The functional design of these tables appeal to interior designers looking for stylish yet practical solutions. - **Eco-friendly Products Industry:** The use of cork as an eco-friendly and sustainable material presents an opportunity for companies in this industry. - **Organizational Home Goods Industry:** Home goods with storage capabilities, such as these tables, appeal to consumers looking for multi-functional furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainable Cork Desk Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/korka.md) - [Sustainable Chrome Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cork-collection.md) - [Cork-Made Occasional Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-tk.md) - [Metallic Multifunctional Storage Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabine-101.md) - [Stackable Cork-Made Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-cork-seating.md) - [Cork Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guillaume-delvigne.md) - [Wooden Cork Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cross-collection.md) - [Stylish Storage-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basso-side-table.md) - [Cork Coaster-Integrated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polka-coffee-table.md)
