# Overlapping Circular Seating Koppla Modular Platforms Create Practical Urban Landscapes By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-07-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koppla-modular-platforms References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Koopla-Plataformas-Modulares-Espacio-Pblico/1078757) Ample green space in cities is a must, but many members of the public require some built objects in order to properly interact with parks. Koppla Modular Platforms fill this necessity quite convincingly, affording pedestrians a place to sit, socialize and connect with nature. Ana Velez Botero worked closely with fellow designers Juan David Buitrago and Manuela Marquez to develop what is also an aesthetically pleasing sculptural arrangement. The project consists of a cluster of [raised metal discs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tenir-bench) that form delightful [niche gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loopo) where their circumferences intersect. Three-dimensional renderings by Juan David Buitrago reveal the artistic details imposed on the engraved surfaces of the rings, which serve both as benches and planters in the Koppla Modular Platforms project. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Modular Seating:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in creating customizable and adaptable seating solutions for urban landscapes. - **Urban Landscaping:** There is potential for disruptive innovation in designing practical and aesthetically pleasing green spaces in cities. - **Sustainable Design:** Disruptive innovation can be found in developing eco-friendly and socially conscious furniture solutions that integrate with nature. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture industry can explore disruptive innovations in creating modular seating systems that enhance outdoor experiences. - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist for architects to integrate practical and visually appealing seating arrangements into urban landscapes. - **Urban Planning:** In the field of urban planning, there is potential for disruptive innovation by incorporating modular seating solutions that encourage social interaction and community engagement in green spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Interactive Purposeful Urban Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-furniture1.md) - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Modular Seating Design Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pla-modular-chair.md) - [Modular Outdoor Space Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mass-public-bench.md) - [Playful Public Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-public-seating.md) - [Inclusive Modular Cityscape Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-bench.md) - [City-Honoring Furniture Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/symbiotic-urban-furniture-project.md) - [Nature-Inspired Modular Pouf Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apego.md)
