# Molecular Mirror Apps The New 'Konfetti' App Lets Users Pixelate and Manipulate Images By Courtney Scharf | Published 2012-05-06 | Marketing Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/konfetti References: [overlapps](http://www.overlapps.com/2012/04/29/konfetti-images-resolved-into-a-number-of-dots/) & [stephanmaximilianhuber](http://stephanmaximilianhuber.com/en/art/konfetti) Konfetti, a new [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mattebox) app, is an [interactive and pixel-inspired](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/confetti-lab) way to manipulate live images. Bizarrely beautiful, the tech-intensive app is getting the attention and downloads of many. Developed by Stephan Maximilian Huber, Konfetti works by converting a mirror image into a moving mosaic of pixelated dots. The user can then enjoy the ability to manipulate and move the pixels, or capture the amazing images produced by the app. The ornamental dots, which are always in motion, resemble molecules, and closely match the coloring of the subject. Setting itself apart from other more elementary [image manipulation tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/filtr), Konfetti stands out in a sea of mediocrity. Konfetti released an accompanying and explanatory video this week, showing off the capabilities of the awesome add-on. Simple but clever, the video matches well with the understated nature of the app. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Marketing](https://www.trendhunter.com/marketing) > [Commercials](https://www.trendhunter.com/commercials) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Interactive Image Manipulation:** Developing apps or technologies that enable users to manipulate live images in a unique and interactive way. - **Pixel-inspired Design:** Incorporating pixelated and mosaic-like designs in digital products to create visually captivating experiences. - **Tech-intensive App Development:** Investing in the development of apps that leverage advanced technologies to create novel and engaging user experiences. ### Where This Applies - **App Development:** Opportunity to create and market apps that offer innovative and interactive image manipulation features. - **Graphic Design:** Exploring pixel-inspired design techniques to create visually striking digital graphics and artworks. - **Technology:** Integrating advanced technologies into app development to revolutionize user experiences and enhance the capabilities of digital products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Efficient Photo-Enhancing Mobile Applications](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immersity-app.md) - [Colorful Retro Pixel Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-mirror.md) - [Imaginative Photo-Editing AI Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/youniverse.md) - [Dynamic Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-displays.md) - [AR-Fueled Musical Camera Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minibeats.md) - [Democratic Digital Artwork Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artzme-app.md) - [Text-to-Image AI Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bonkers-app.md) - [Elevated Virtual Photography Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neural-telephoto.md) - [Trailer-Making Life Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moments.md)
