Its fluid shape and dynamic lighting is achieved by a series of offset fins made of reclaimed wood that filter natural light while creating dimension from the fins’ shapes and shadows. The Komb home is eco-friendly and features rainwater harvesting, radiant heat flooring, greywater recycling and LED lighting. But the eco-factor doesn’t keep it from being luxurious: Above the [center plunge pool](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/10m), kinetic art collects power from the wind and a skylight lets plungers contemplate a future earth in natural balance. The emphasis on environment doesn’t stop with sustainability. The Komb home comforts its inhabitants with colorful modern furnishings and great attention to facilitating what Rashid has identified as the four life functions: eat, sleep, play and cleanse. The Komb home is currently in Cairo, Egypt, but because it can be [easily disassembled and moved](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-offgrid-house), don’t be surprised if you see it elsewhere in the world -- maybe close to you. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Eco-friendly Housing:** The use of reclaimed wood and sustainable technology in the Komb home presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the eco-friendly housing industry. - **Kinetic Art:** The incorporation of kinetic art that collects power from wind in the Komb home showcases the potential for innovation in sustainable energy and art industries. - **Modular Design:** The Komb home's ability to be disassembled and easily moved presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the modular housing industry. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Sustainable Technology:** The eco-friendly features of the Komb home, including rainwater harvesting and LED lighting, present an opportunity for disruptive innovation in sustainable technology industries. - **Furniture Design:** The colorful and modern furnishings inside the Komb home highlight the potential for innovative design in the furniture industry. - **Architecture:** The fluid and dynamic design of the Komb home presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the architectural industry, particularly in eco-friendly and modular design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Eco-Friendly Luxury Villas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/land-villas.md) - [Climate-Responsive Prefab Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-pod.md) - [Solar Powered Compact Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/e55000.md) - [Whimsical Futuristic Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoohome.md) - [Sustainable Floating Cork Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-float-1.md) - [Reinvented Compact Living](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype.md) - [City-Framing Concrete Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/khome.md) - [Origami-Style Shelled Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/copper-bottom.md) - [Compact Sustainable Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cabana.md)
