# Egg-Shaped Seats The Kokkode Chair by Andrea Santarossa is Made to Correct Postures By Meghan Young | Published 2012-11-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kokkode-chair References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/11/27/the-egg-cercise-chair/) & [andreasantarossa](http://www.andreasantarossa.com/projects/kokkode/) The Kokkode Chair may seem like a piece of furniture geared towards children due to its fun egg shape, but it was actually created with the intention of [correcting people's postures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dynamic-spinecare). Of course, this can go for both kids and adults. Like a [stool and bean bag in one](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sedeo-chair), the Kokkode Chair has a [cushioned surface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair) that allows the sitter to sink in subtly for a comfortable perch. Designed by Andrea Santarossa for ILPO, the Kokkode Chair was constructed using a cold polyurethane foam injection instead of beans. Complete with a counter weight on the bottom, the Kokkode Chair conveniently adapts to the posture a person needs in a particular position. Whether a person sits on the Kokkode Chair length-wise or width-wise, it encourages good posture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Posture Correction:** The trend of designing furniture that promotes good posture and corrects the user's sitting position. - **Multi-functional Seating:** The trend of creating seating options that serve multiple purposes, such as combining the features of a stool and a bean bag. - **Foam Injection Technology:** The trend of using cold polyurethane foam injection instead of traditional materials in furniture construction. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Opportunities for designers to create innovative furniture pieces that prioritize postural correction and multi-functionality. - **Health and Wellness:** Opportunities for health and wellness industries to incorporate posture correction features into their products, such as ergonomic seating. - **Manufacturing:** Opportunities for manufacturers to explore the use of cold polyurethane foam injection technology in various products beyond furniture, such as automotive seating. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Posture-Correcting Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ayur-chair-1.md) - [Collapsible Posture Support Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ergonomic-portable-seat.md) - [Supplemental Posture Chair Supports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curble-chair.md) - [Adaptable Ergonomic Office Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-moon-chair.md) - [Platful Ergonomic Children's Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-lentala.md) - [Pretzel-Like Comfortable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dohui.md) - [Health-Focused Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-office-chair.md) - [Sloped Movement Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tippi-chair.md) - [Anatomical Lounge Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/himalaya-pelvis-chair.md)
