As stated by its designer, the chair "expresses the ideals of tranquil garden retreats." Designed by Jarrod Lim, the Koi chair is made out of [steel and wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miko-armchair). Resembling a [wrought iron gate](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stamping-chair), there is something magical and medieval about this piece which captures my attention. According to Lim, the Koi chair "represents the peaceful atmosphere often associated with the Koi fish found in many traditional Asian gardens." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.4/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Scalloped Design:** The Koi Chair showcases a delicate scalloped design, suggesting a trend towards intricate and decorative aesthetics in furniture. - **Medieval Inspiration:** The Koi Chair, resembling a wrought iron gate, highlights a trend towards incorporating medieval-inspired elements into contemporary furniture design, blending the old with the new. - **Asian Garden Influence:** The Koi Chair draws inspiration from traditional Asian gardens, bringing attention to a growing trend of incorporating elements of nature and tranquility into furniture designs. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers and manufacturers can explore the use of scalloped designs inspired by the Koi Chair, creating unique and visually appealing pieces for consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate medieval-inspired elements, like the Koi Chair's wrought iron gate resemblance, to bring a touch of historical charm to modern living spaces. - **Garden and Outdoor Decor:** The Koi Chair's connection to traditional Asian gardens opens up opportunities for the garden and outdoor decor industry to create furniture and accents that evoke a sense of tranquility and natural beauty. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Distinctive Craftsmanship Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koyori-wooden-chairs.md) - [Floating Component Dining Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-top-chair.md) - [Wavy Lounge Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-lounge-chair.md) - [Scissor-Inspired Minimal Wooden Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kainchee-chair.md) - [Fishing-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akos-huber.md) - [Water Ripples-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-ripples-chair.md) - [Zen-Focused Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goyo-chair.md) - [Draped Fabric-Clad Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidahida.md) - [Stainless Steel Reflective Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair.md)
