It is a series of furniture pieces made from wood -- each one is designed with a drippy and organic structure carved by hand from curly maple. The designs are inspired by a 16th-century alphabet that is known to communicate with angels -- the 'angelic script.' It was shown during [Design Miami](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-cloth-object) for the first time in the later part of last year, presented by [Room](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acoustic-lounge) 57 gallery. Gander took on an intuitive approach when it comes to carving and creating forms through the [wooden foundation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodcarving-heritage). He states, “I start carving away at what are initially large blocky assemblages of wood — and then I start to see where the form wants to go.” Image Credit: Brecht Wright Gander, [hypebeast](https://hypebeast.com/2023/1/brecht-wright-gander-room-57-gallery) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 14% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Organic Wooden Furniture:** Opportunity for designers to create furniture pieces with a drippy and organic structure, carving by hand from curly maple wood. - **Innovative Furniture Design:** Opportunity to inspire and encourage furniture designers to take on intuitive and creative approaches in creating unique pieces. - **Alphabet-inspired Designs:** Opportunity to derive inspiration from ancient scripts and languages in creating unique furniture designs and collections. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can take advantage of these trends to create more innovative and unique designs. - **Art Industry:** Art galleries and collectors can display and appreciate these furniture pieces as works of art, blurring the lines between art and design. - **Home Decor Industry:** Home decor companies can incorporate organic and unique furniture designs to cater to customers looking for one-of-a-kind pieces that can elevate their living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Dynamic Timber Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/down-to-earth.md) - [Sculptural Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightness-of-form.md) - [Candy-Inspired Laminated Artful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/n90n.md) - [Wilderness-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/habitat-collection.md) - [Organic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roots-collection-1.md) - [Manipulated Wood Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snickeriet.md) - [Whimsical Childlike Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-eternal-child.md) - [Domestic Artful Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculpted-series.md)
