# Durable Colorful Furniture Designs Sancal's Latest Range Boasts the Use of a Tough Knitted Textile By Kalin Ned | Published 2018-11-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knitted-textile References: [design-milk](https://design-milk.com/sancal-lets-the-color-in/) & [sancal](https://sancal.com/en/) The latest [Sancal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raw-color-2) collection highlights the performance of a new "ultra-tough" knitted textile that does not sacrifice the aesthetic of the piece for functional purposes. The effortless application of the material means that it is inherently practical. Sancal dubbs this resource '[Rift](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vssl-rift-tumbler)' and advertises the fact that it is completely fireproof. The furniture is sculptural and chromatic. It ever-so-slightly builds on the styles of art-deco movements. The new offerings — from the cozy seating arrangements to the fashion-forward products, present Sancal's exploration of the desert landscape. Thus, the cracked pattern of the upholstery is a nod to the "cracks on a scorched earth." The bold colorways add a visually striking element to the furniture. Although the tough knitted textile is guaranteed to be extremely durable, the fabric itself "feels soft and smooth to the touch." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Ultra-tough Knitted Textile:** Opportunity for textiles and furniture industries to develop and utilize more durable and fireproof materials without sacrificing aesthetic appeal. - **Chromatic Furniture Designs:** Opportunity for furniture industry to experiment with bold and visually striking colorways that add unique elements to the design. - **Sculptural Furniture Pieces:** Opportunity for furniture industry to create more art-inspired designs that feature unique shapes and styling. ### Where This Applies - **Textiles:** Opportunity for textiles industry to produce more durable, fireproof, and aesthetically pleasing materials for use in furniture design. - **Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture industry to create more visually striking and unique designs using durable, fireproof, and aesthetically pleasing materials. - **Art and Design:** Opportunity for art and design industry to collaborate with furniture manufacturers to produce more art-inspired and sculptural designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Durable Designer Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/r24-collection.md) - [Life-Exploring Colorful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arper.md) - [Sculptural Living Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cromatica.md) - [Vibrant Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vibrant-furniture-collection.md) - [Dynamic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-dixon-fat-and-plump.md) - [Water-Resistant Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomad-collection.md) - [Playful Outdoor Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-new-raw-1.md) - [Vibrant Upholstered Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upholstered-furniture1.md) - [Outdoor-Ready Structural Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-collection-1.md)
