Featuring a [swiveling design aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sliding-knife), the knife block works by being installed onto the underside of a cabinet to free up counter space. When knives are not needed, the block swivels around to hide the knife handles and put a discretionary chunk of wood on display. The standard [knife slots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cutlery-station) on the Wusthof Knife Storage Block will fit most styles of knives and ensure they're always on-hand when needed. Condominiums and other unit-style dwellings often have much [smaller kitchen spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf) than traditional homes. As such, we're seeing more products like the Wusthof come about to free up space wherever possible. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Swiveling Knife Storage Blocks:** Opportunity for manufacturers to design compact storage solutions that can be hidden away when not in use. - **Under-cabinet Storage Solutions:** Innovative opportunities for designers to create space-saving storage solutions that utilize the under-cabinet area. - **Discreet Kitchen Gadgets:** Market opportunity for companies to create functional yet unobtrusive kitchen gadgets that can blend seamlessly into any home. ### Where This Applies - **Kitchenware:** Innovative opportunities for manufacturers to create discreet and space-saving kitchen gadgets that can appeal to consumers living in smaller spaces such as apartments and condos. - **Interior Design:** Opportunities for interior designers to incorporate functional and space-saving storage solutions into their designs for smaller kitchens and living spaces. - **Real Estate:** Opportunity for real estate developers to market smaller spaces as more functional and appealing with space-saving kitchen gadgets and storage solutions like the Wusthof Knife Storage Block. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Knife-Sanitizing Storage Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnetic-knife-block.md) - [Ultra-Slick Minimalist Knife Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-knife-block.md) - [Angular Minimalist Knife Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-knife-block-set.md) - [EDC Knife Display Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holme-hadfield-knife-deck.md) - [Premium Knife Holder Launches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cutluxe-2.md) - [Cabinet-Style Kitchen Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/next125-pocket-system.md) - [Design-Conscious Butcher Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caraway-prep-serve-butcher-block.md) - [EDC Knife Display Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/armada-knife-display.md) - [Eight-in-One Kitchen Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchyhub.md)
