The Kitchen Library allows Canadians to rent [kitchen appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thyme-table) on a short-term basis. The non-profit lending library works similarly to a regular library, except instead of sharing books, you can borrow cooking equipment.

The Kitchen Library is working out of the [Toronto Tool Library](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toronto-public-library-1) for home chefs to utilize as a resource. Unlike the public library, there is a $50 fee (approximately the cost of a mid-range appliance) to become a member. This annual fee grants you access to items like pasta makers, chocolate fountains and standing mixers. Each item can be lent out for up to 5 days and must be washed clean before returning. The same space is being used to offer [cooking classes and workshops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shared-kitchen) for members who can get comfortable with the equipment before using.
