He didn’t want [wooden floors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-newstalgia), but also didn’t want to remove them either as this would make his flat lose value. Rather than remove the wood floors, he simply covered them to make them his canvas. Hemmendorff simply covered his kitchen floor with [vinyl contact paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vinyl-house) and then drew on it. His completed design features wood, flowers and a rogue frying pan. If you look closely, you'll also see the added cat. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **DIY Flooring Designs:** The trend of DIY flooring designs will continue to grow with the use of vinyl contact paper as a canvas. - **Personalized Home Decor:** The trend of personalized home decor will be fueled by the use of unconventional mediums like vinyl contact paper. - **Minimalist Art Inspired Designs:** The trend of minimalist art inspired designs will be seen with the use of vinyl contact paper as a creative medium for home interior design. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Improvement:** Home improvement industry can tap into the trend of personalized flooring designs and offer various creative options with vinyl contact paper. - **Art and Craft:** Art and craft industry can explore the unconventional use of vinyl contact paper as a canvas for creative artwork and designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior design industry can incorporate the trend of minimalist art inspired designs with the use of vinyl contact paper as a creative medium for various decor elements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vibrant Tile Stickers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vinyl-tile-stickers.md) - [Custom Print Flooring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flotex.md) - [Versatile Remolded Linoleum Tiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flaxwood.md) - [Geometric Wood Flooring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kaleidoscope-collection.md) - [Renter-Friendly Wallpaper Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/renter-friendly-wallpaper.md) - [Custom Woven Kitchen Coverings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worktop.md) - [Customizable All-Purpose Floor Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-floor-mat.md) - [Decorative Removable Paints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glasst.md) - [Removable Stained Glass Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stained-window-decals.md)
