The wood used in the chopping block is creatively shaped and smoothed down to look like rocks one might find at the base of a river bed, and they can easily be stacked for sculptural presentation. The River Rock cutting boards are a design put together by retailer [Love Lynsey](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/love-on-board-lazy-susan) that is designed for kitchen prep as well as presentational use. The set comes with four asymmetrical blocks with rounded corners. Each plank is made from a different type of wood ranging from light walnut to a red hickory creating a tonal gradient as the planks shift in size and shape. These would be ideal to use in the kitchen as well as to serve food to guests. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Natural Aesthetics:** Opportunity for kitchenware companies to create products that incorporate natural aesthetics, such as cutting boards that resemble river rocks. - **Stackable Design:** Opportunity for retailers to develop stackable kitchen cutting boards that offer both functionality and a sculptural presentation for consumers. - **Tonal Gradient:** Opportunity for wood manufacturers to create cutting boards with a tonal gradient by using different types of wood, allowing for unique and visually appealing kitchenware. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Kitchenware:** Kitchenware companies can explore innovative designs, such as rock-inspired chopping blocks, to cater to consumers' desire for unique and visually appealing products. - **Retail:** Retailers can capitalize on the trend of stackable kitchen cutting boards to offer functional and aesthetically pleasing options to consumers. - **Wood Manufacturing:** Wood manufacturers have an opportunity to create cutting boards with a tonal gradient, using different types of wood, to meet the demand for natural and visually interesting kitchenware. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Preparation Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mudra-cutting-board.md) - [Intricate Wooden Serving Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-serving-board.md) - [Multifunctional Serving Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/convertible-serving-board-trio.md) - [High-Quality Birch Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caraway-2.md) - [Sustainable Kitchen Gear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/legni-collection.md) - [Cheese-Shaped Charcuterie Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cheese-block-with-knife.md) - [High-Performance Cutting Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-steelport-steelcore.md) - [Hybrid Serving Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/viking-acacia.md) - [Multifunctional Kitchen Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/latticeboard-multipurpose-kitchen-board.md)
