# Cremation Tattoos Kim Mordue Tattoos Her Son's Ashes onto Her Skin By Michael Hines | Published 2010-06-24 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kim-mordue References: [uniquedaily](http://www.uniquedaily.com/dead-sons-ashes-tattooed-onto-mothers-skin/) & [dailymail](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1288578/Mum-Kim-Mordue-dead-sons-ashes-tattooed-skin.html) Kim Mordue lost her son to a drug overdose and decided to get a tattoo to help her remember him. She didn’t get any normal tattoo, though: Kim Mordue mixed her son's ashes in with the ink in her tattoo. I think this is an excellent idea to help preserve the memory of a loved one. Kim Mordue’s tattoo consists of a cabala tree, an angel releasing a butterfly, and a poem for her son. Her husband, who owns a tattoo parlor, did the tattoo, keeping the whole thing a family affair. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Memorial Tattoos:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new tattoo inks specifically designed to incorporate ashes of loved ones, creating personalized memorial tattoos. - **Customized Mourning Rituals:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative services or products that allow individuals to personalize their mourning rituals, such as incorporating ashes into artworks or jewelry. - **Emotional Connection Through Body Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore ways to enhance emotional connections through body art, offering unique ways for individuals to express and commemorate their feelings. ### Who This Affects Most - **Tattoo Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with cremation services to develop specialized tattoo techniques or inks for creating meaningful memorial tattoos. - **Funeral Services Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop complementary products or services, such as personalized memorial tattoo consultations, to cater to individuals seeking unique mourning rituals. - **Art and Design Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Bring together art and design with mourning rituals by offering services that incorporate ashes into custom artworks or jewelry pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Commemorative Urn Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/commemorative-urn.md) - [Transformative Survivor Tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mark-of-life.md) - [Interactive Tattoo Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inkstory.md) - [Deep Sea Funerals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deep-sea-funeral.md) - [3D-Printed Ecological Funeral Reefs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-reefs.md) - [Post-Mortem Pet Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cirius-beam-projector.md) - [AI-Powered Virtual Memorials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virtual-memorials.md) - [Hotel-Friendly Tattoo Pop-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tattoo-popup.md) - [Progressive Rewritable Tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magic-ink.md)
