# Remixed Dictator Art Kim Jong Phil Transforms Mr. Toledano into the Reclusive North Korean Leader By Michael Hines | Published 2011-01-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kim-jong-phil References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2011/01/26/dictator-style-self-portraits/) & [kimjongphil](http://kimjongphil.com/statement) I have been entirely unfamiliar with the works of Mr. (Phillip) Toledano until I came across Kim Jong Phil. Kim Jong Phil is a new series in which Mr. Toledano places himself in the shoes of the beloved leader of North Korea. Mr. Toledano took actual art featuring Kim Jong-Il and simply replaced the head of the reclusive leader with his own. The result is a series of paintings that are incredibly detailed and look nearly as good as the originals. If you're a fan of Mr. Toledano's artwork or communism then you definitely need to check out Kim Jong Phil. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Remixed Dictator Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the growing trend of artists remixing political and historical figures to create thought-provoking art. ### Who This Affects Most - **Visual Arts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate digital technologies and AI to revolutionize the creation and consumption of visual art. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pop Art-Style Blocked Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-in-red.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Collectible Philosopher Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pix-plato.md) - [Artistic AI Image Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/donny-ai.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Television-Showcased Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-oled-lounge.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Explosion-Damaged Sculpture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-into-darkness.md)
