According to DesignBoom, "with a premise of being a one-story house, the main challenge was to meet the needs of acoustic and thermal comfort, keeping all the functions of a [single family home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openfield-house)." The architects decided to separate the design into three distinct areas, with one being the barn-like structure, and the others sticking out in a rectangular form on either side. Because of this design, the people in the house are able to have distinct sections for public interaction and private space. With a family home, having these boundaries is important for each individual to get their quiet time, as well as ensure there is enough interaction.
