# Slimmed-Down Smartphone Keypads The Kiano iPhone 4 Keyboard is Thin By Michael Hines | Published 2012-01-30 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kiano-iphone-4-keyboard References: [highsnobiety](http://www.highsnobiety.com/news/2012/01/26/kiano-4-iphone-keyboard-case/) & [inature.hk](http://www.inature.hk/kiano4/index2.html) Those with thicker fingers may not be too excited over the Kiano [iPhone 4](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iphone-4-concept) Keyboard. Kiano's new add-on is the thinnest iPhone keyboard around, boasting an ultra-slim shape and a backlight. The iPhone's lack of a [physical keyboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clicks-power-keyboard) is a small issue, but it's big enough that a small market of keyboards has appeared for those needing to feel something as they type. The Kiano iPhone 4 Keyboard brings the sensation of touch back to typing without compromising the minimalist and modern look of your phone. When not in use, the keyboard slides back into its case looking as if your smartphone is merely sporting an oversized case as opposed to an entire keyboard. The [backlit feature](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/typecase-edge-pro) of Kiano's design is an ingenious addition as any keyboard, no matter how small, is useless if not lit up in the dark. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Slimmed-down Smartphone Keyboards:** Developing compact and lightweight smartphone keyboards that retain the essence of the minimalistic smartphone design. - **Backlit Smartphone Keyboards:** Innovating backlit smartphone keyboards to provide better visibility during low-light environments. - **Tactile Smartphone Keyboards:** Redesigning the tactile feedback experience of modern smartphone keyboards for people with thicker fingers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Smartphone Accessories:** Designing and manufacturing accessories that enhance the usability and aesthetics of modern smartphones, like the Kiano iPhone 4 Keyboard. - **Consumer Electronics:** Creating smaller, smarter, and multi-functional consumer electronics that offer a seamless user experience, like the Kiano iPhone keyboard. - **Gamers and Typists:** Developing specialized keyboards and input devices for gamers and typists that offer improved ergonomic design and backlit keys for better visibility. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartphone Keyboard Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clicks.md) - [Mobile Physical Keyboard Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clicks-creator-keyboard.md) - [Tactile Smartphone Keyboard Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akko-metakey-case.md) - [Portable Clamshell Phone Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amber-kb-1.md) - [AI Button-Customized Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/incase-compact-ergonomic-keyboard.md) - [Angular Keyboard-Accented Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unihertz-titan-2.md) - [Keyboard-Intact E-Ink Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-minimalist-phone.md) - [Stylish Aftermarket Keyboard Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/satechi-slim-x3.md) - [Screen-Accented Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touchscreen-mechanical-keyboard.md)
