Designer Nolan Herbut used over 2000 [recycled computer keys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bultan-chair) to create this unique bench. Aside from the computer keys, the Wolfgang Keyboard Bench is also composed of a Baltic birch wood frame. Herbut maintained the action of the keys so that they move when you sit or when they are pressed upon. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sustainable Furniture Design:** Nolan Herbut's use of recycled computer keys highlights an opportunity for furniture designers to incorporate sustainable materials into their products. - **Functional Art:** The Wolfgang Keyboard Bench's integration of musical instrument design principles is an example of how functional furniture can serve as art. - **Consumer Desire for Unique Furniture Pieces:** The Wolfgang Keyboard Bench's use of computer keys resonates with consumers looking for one-of-a-kind conversation pieces in their homes. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can incorporate recycled materials in their designs, reducing their environmental impact. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can offer clients unique, functional art pieces like the Wolfgang Keyboard Bench to enhance their home decor. - **Sustainable Technology:** The use of recycled computer keys to create the Wolfgang Keyboard Bench highlights the potential of sustainable technology, presenting an opportunity for companies to explore more environmentally friendly practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainable Hand-Crafted Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/working-synth.md) - [Sleek Workflow-Enhancing Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knob-1-keyboard.md) - [Hexagonal Music Composition Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-composition-keyboard.md) - [Slim Brutalist Functional Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cleaver.md) - [Sculptural Art Pianos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-and-stone-piano-v2.md) - [Digital HD Display Pianos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mozart-console-piano.md) - [Creative Modular Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-louder.md) - [Computer-Supported Artful Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mac-pro-bench.md) - [Stone-Like Mechanical Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mason60-zen-series.md)
