# Compact Keychain Bottle Openers The Key Kap Attaches Directly to One's House Keys By Joey Haar | Published 2017-06-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/key-kap References: [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1890958057/key-kap-the-worlds-most-compact-bottle-opener?ref=user_menu) Bottle openers are one of those sneakily convenient tools to keep on one's person, even if beer isn't your drink of choice, and the Key Kap is a new tool that makes it even easier to carry around the handheld second-degree lever. As its name suggests, the Key Kap attaches directly to one's house key (rather than to a keychain), making it more compact and reducing the amount of items one needs on their [everyday carry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tinyblade) list. The Key Kap essentially turns ones house key into the arm of the lever on the [bottle opener](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ryan-k). The head of the key slides into a slit in the tool, and a small screw then goes through the hole in the head — which is usually reserved for the key ring — thus securing the key and the opener together. The Key Kap still comes with a loop for attaching a key ring, keeping every functional aspect of the key in place while adding easy bottle-opening. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Compact Keychain Tools:** The Key Kap demonstrates the potential for compact, multi-functional tools that serve multiple purposes in one small package. - **Everyday Carry Essentials:** As more people look for ways to simplify their lives and carry fewer items, there is an opportunity for businesses to create multi-functional tools that serve multiple purposes and don't take up unnecessary space. - **Innovative Key Accessories:** The Key Kap highlights the potential for innovative key accessories that add functionality and convenience to people's daily lives. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Tools and Hardware:** Hardware companies can capitalize on the trend of compact, multi-functional tools by creating similar products that serve multiple purposes in a small package. - **Consumer Goods:** Consumer goods companies can create everyday carry essentials that are compact and serve multiple purposes, allowing people to simplify their lives and carry fewer items. - **Key Accessories:** There is an opportunity for key accessory companies to create innovative solutions that add functionality and convenience to people's daily lives, like the Key Kap does. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Keychain-Sized Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/k-smart-keychain.md) - [Titanium Keychain Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-keysnap.md) - [Hidden Bottle Opener Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leverage-watch.md) - [Smart Bottle Openers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-bottle-opener.md) - [Complimentary EDC Bottle Openers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-james-brand-titanium-bottle-opener.md) - [Titanium Key-Inspired Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edc-monster-keymaster.md) - [Dynamic Curved Bottle Openers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dancing-opener.md) - [Minimal Titanium Keychains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quickrelease-edc-carry-system.md) - [Dynamic Mechanical Bottle Openers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ryan-k.md)
