# Condiment-Shaped Seasonings Ketchup and Mustard Salt and Pepper Shakers are Quite Contrary By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-02-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ketchup-and-mustard-salt-and-pepper References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2013/01/31/Ketchup-and-Mustard-Salt-Pepper-Shakers/) & [neatoshop](http://www.neatoshop.com/product/Ketchup-and-Mustard-Salt-Pepper-Shakers) To give any dinner table the feeling of a cozy, mom and pop diner, the Ketchup and Mustard Salt and Pepper Shakers from NeatoShop are the way to go. While the ceramic shakers look like squat versions of [ketchup and mustard bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colmans-squeezy-bottle), they actually contain [salt and pepper seasoning](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/premium-peppercorn). The [condiment bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fischer-wieser) come in a little basket and make it difficult for guests to determine what exactly they contain -- is it salt, pepper or ketchup they are about to pour all over their food? Perhaps this added element of surprise adds to the play on words happening with the seasoning bottles. The Ketchup and Mustard Salt and Pepper Shakers show off a sense of humor at the dining table. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Condiment-shaped Seasonings:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the novelty seasoning market by creating condiment-shaped salt and pepper shakers. - **Playful Tableware:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the tableware industry by introducing unique and humorous designs, such as condiment bottle-shaped salt and pepper shakers. - **Surprise Element in Table Settings:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the dining experience sector by incorporating elements of surprise, like concealed seasonings, into table settings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Kitchenware:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the kitchenware industry by developing unconventional salt and pepper shakers shaped like condiment bottles. - **Gift and Souvenir:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the gift and souvenir industry by offering unique and whimsical tableware items, such as condiment-shaped salt and pepper shakers. - **Hospitality and Event Planning:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the hospitality and event planning industry by incorporating surprise and novelty elements, like condiment-shaped salt and pepper shakers, into table settings and dining experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tabletop Seed Shakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/munchy-seeds-need-seeds.md) - [Condiment-Inspired Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/so-cute-ice-cream.md) - [Functional Table Seasonings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-seasonings.md) - [Pizza Seasoning Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collectible-seasoning-duet-box-set.md) - [Ketchup-Flavored Seasoning Blends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ketchup-flavored-sprinkle-seasoning-blend.md) - [Dual Spice Shaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stui.md) - [Condiment-Flavored Toothpastes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toothpaste-sachets.md) - [Portable Sauce-Dispensing Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ksooly-squeeze-bottle.md) - [Adorable Kitchen Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kikkoman-x-hello-kitty.md)
