If one were to walk through the Japanese woods where this design by Kengo Kuma Associates was situated, there's a good chance you would have a tough time spotting this building. The elevated structure blends in so naturally with its surroundings that it's hard to see from a distance.

However, this was the goal with the design by Kengo Kuma Associates. They wanted an elevated structure that did not obstruct the forest, but instead works with the natural colors and landscape. More specifically, the structure was "envisioned as a cloud floating above the forest landscape," according to DesignBoom. The team certainly achieved this effect with the translucent glass wrapping around the outside and wooden exterior in various parts.
