The homes are all 'Hungarian Cubes,' a style of home that is closely associated with [post-war communism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warsaw-apartment-renovation). In an attempt to resist the imposed uniformity of the regime, inhabitants took to decorating their homes to reflect their idiosyncrasies. Though Roters found herself drawn to the [geometric aesthetic of the homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kier-apartment), she soon learned that the history of the style has lead to "disregard and hostility," as well as demolition. With this project, Roters attempts to document a style that is slowly being wiped out; her book stands to chronicle the homes' unlikely beauty. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Revival of Individuality:** The trend of reviving a sense of individuality through ornamentation and personal expression in home design. - **Preservation of Cultural History:** The trend of documenting and preserving historical styles and architecture that are at risk of being demolished or forgotten. - **Geometric Aesthetics:** The trend of embracing geometric aesthetics in home design as a form of self-expression and identity. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** There is an opportunity for interior design professionals to incorporate and promote individuality and personal expression in their designs. - **Architecture:** Architectural firms can explore ways to preserve and celebrate historical styles that have been disregarded or at risk of demolition. - **Photography:** Photographers can capture and document historical styles and architecture to raise awareness and appreciation for their beauty and cultural significance. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paired-Back Modernist Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modernist-interior.md) - [Transformed Colorful Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gdr-bungalow.md) - [Crafted Historic Villas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pppler.md) - [Pastel Tonal Apartment Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/regensburg-quarter.md) - [Curved Translucent Experimental Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptors-apartment.md) - [Immersive Artful Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oveneck-33.md) - [Personal Nostalgic Photo Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holy-ohio.md) - [Eccentrically Designed Historic Penthomes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crina-arghirescu-rogard.md) - [Renovated 19th-Century Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/byr-architekti.md)
