All of her featured works in the exhibit are made with refined sugar. The most acclaimed sugary creation of all is her [giant sphinx](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-pyramid), which is designed in the form of an African woman. The art was aptly designed in homage to the hall that it's occupying: an old [Domino](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultrafine-sugar) Sugar Refining Plant. It also represents the “unpaid and overworked artisans who have refined our sweet tastes from the cane fields to the kitchens of the new world.” The installation, which beautifully coincides with the historic building's aesthetics, will be open to public on July 6th in the Brooklyn-based industrial factory. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sugar Art:** Exploring innovative applications of refined sugar in art and sculpture. - **Cultural Commentary:** Using art to raise awareness and spark discussion about social and historical issues. - **Industrial Heritage:** Revitalizing historic industrial spaces by integrating contemporary art installations. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** Opportunity for artists to push boundaries and experiment with unconventional materials. - **Food and Beverage:** Exploring new ways to incorporate refined sugar as an artistic element in culinary creations. - **Urban Renewal:** Transforming old factory buildings into cultural destinations through art installations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Street Art-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/met-rooftop.md) - [African Identity-Inspired Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/african-identity.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Screen-Printed Chocolate Tiled Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chocolate-room-1.md) - [Striking Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculpture-candle.md) - [Outdoor Floral Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptures-at-kew-gardens.md) - [Artful Pyramid Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-pyramid.md) - [Large-Scale Sculpture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desert-x1.md) - [Raunchy Anime-Inspired Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manuela-soto-sosa.md)
