# Floating River Saunas The Kaluga Sauna is an Eco-Friendly Swimming Spa By Jordan M | Published 2011-01-28 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kaluga-sauna References: [architecturelab.net](http://architecturelab.net/kaluga-floating-sauna-russia-by-rintala-eggertsson-architects-13292/) & [rintalaeggertsson](http://www.rintalaeggertsson.com/) The Kaluga Sauna is an unusually awesome combination of two traditionally seperate ideas: saunas and major waterways. Designed and built by Rintala Eggertsson Architects, the Kaluga Sauna is one of several buildings sent floating down the Urga River as a part of the Festival of Landscape Objects. The Kaluga Sauna even features a living tree on its roof and is now located in the village of Nikola-Lenivets as an architectural exhibit for locals to enjoy. **Implications** - At the core of the sauna is the connection between nature and humans. The relaxing environment is a great platform for participants to appreciate the inherent value of nature as an environment conducive to the elimination of stress. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 81% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Floating Saunas:** Opportunity to create more floating saunas that combine relaxation and nature for a unique experience. - **Architectural Exhibits:** Potential for more architectural exhibits that integrate with natural surroundings. - **Eco-friendly Design:** Growing demand for eco-friendly designs in the spa and wellness industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Wellness:** Wellness industry can explore the integration of floating saunas for a calming and immersive experience. - **Architecture:** Architecture industry can consider creating more exhibits that harmonize with the natural environment. - **Design:** Design industry can focus on creating eco-friendly structures and exhibits for a sustainable future. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Floating Sauna Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watercave.md) - [Shipping Container Floating Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fjord-floating-sauna.md) - [Reflection-Inducing Floating Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trosten-floating-sauna.md) - [Modern Mobile Sauna Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquila-sauna.md) - [Floating Travelling Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-branzino.md) - [Mobile Sauna Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-aquila.md) - [Communal Wooden Peninsula Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotspot.md) - [View-Overlooking Portable Wooden Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saunabivak.md) - [Architectural Home Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-luminar.md)
