Bieber's gave Degeneres a lock of his hair as a gift -- a gift that she decided to flip on [eBay](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/named-dairy-queen-blizzard) to raise money for The Gentle Barn, an [animal rescue charity](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uber-showcats). The current bid on the Justin Beiber hair auction is $7,000, a completely reasonable price to pay for a lock of hair. Betting for the hair closes in nearly five days, which should be enough time to drive up the bids into the $10,000 to $15,000 range. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bizarre Charity Fundraisers:** Innovative ways to collect money for charities, more creative and unusual than traditional fundraising methods. - **Celebrity Memorabilia Auctions:** Online charity auctions of celebrity items, a trend that is growing in popularity. - **Fundraising for Animal Rescue Charities:** Raising funds for animal rescue organizations has become a trend in charity activities that encourages donations. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Non-profit Organizations:** Non-profit organizations create opportunities for charity auctions promoting celebrity auctions and bizarre fundraising campaigns. - **E-commerce Industry:** E-commerce platforms raise money for charity through celebrity auctions to generate revenue. - **Entertainment Industry:** The entertainment industry has a major role to play in charity activities and can use the celebrity memorabilia auctioning trend to expand their charitable initiatives. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Charitable Digital Auctions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-auction.md) - [Social Good Beard Contests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/benevolent-beards-contest.md) - [Charitable Restaurant Auctions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/named-dairy-queen-blizzard.md) - [Unique Real Facial Hair Billboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dollar-shave-club1.md) - [Hygiene-Focused Fundraisers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hygiene-for-hope.md) - [Electric Microbus Charity Auctions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/id-buzz-virtual-auction.md) - [Fundraising Car Giveaways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bmw-m5-cs.md) - [Real Hair-Packed Voodoo Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steveo.md) - [Eco Charity Advent Calendars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ebay-and-this-is-beauty.md)
